WebZone

Who they are?

WebZone was a privately financed company who formed a joint venture with British Telecom to roll out a series of gaming kiosks, primarily to pubs & bars.

The distinctive kiosks housed a touch screen, PC, smart card reader and ISDN communications link as well as a printer.

Users could surf the 'net but also play games of chance for large cash prizes.

Over 200 units were rolled out and the company started raising finance to become AIM listed (a public listing) but as it was the time of the .DotCom crash this proved impossible and so an innovative solution was abandoned.
