Video and related issues

We have been involved in Video and computers since the 1970s and are pleased that at long last they really are now converging. But.....

There is still a large gap between developers and makers of media who really understand televisions and those who just understand video on on computers...

Concepts such as aspect ratio, pixel aspect ratio, black level, frame rate and so on are second nature to those brought up in television but often alien to those who have arrived at video via computers.

Lots of video files - usually AVIs - will play on PCs with media player but look mishapen or just don't play when tried on a proper television system.

So this section of the web site is devoted to tools and techniques that help ensure that the video files one makes work well on both computers and proper television sets.
